Okay, shopping online has it’s pro’s and con’s but…all in all…it frees you up to do what you want to do.

Here’s the start of our knowledge…..

Using Your Plastic.

Using your plastic on line is always a difficult decision, especially if you’re not sure about the website you want to purchase from, so there are a number of things to look for or check:
1. Use a Credit Card not a Debit Card.
• If the goods or services you are buying cost over £100 and you pay by credit card, you may be protected by the Consumer Credit Act. This states that the credit card company is equally liable for any defects. Therefore, should a problem arise, you can claim either from the trader or from the credit card company.

2. Use a recognised payment method or processor. • Paypal – Paypal is now used by most high street name online such as BBC, Boots, Burtons, Gadgetshop, T K MAXX and many more (THIS IS WHY WE USE IT). See the link below: https://www.paypal-marketing.co.uk/bigbrands/index.htm. • It is also Verisign Secured

• Nochex – a standard payment processor. This was used heavily on eBay but it seems that eBay do not allow it now…must have been taking their income away.

• Banks – all the banks have their own payment processors, however not all retailers can afford these, most larger retailers can afford these and pass the costs on to the unsuspecting customers within the price of the order.

3. Make sure they have Terms and Conditions.

• Terms and Conditions are there for your protection as well as the retailer, they detail what the retailers responsibilities are and what you can expect from them.

4. Watch for spoof websites, these could be site which look like they are apart of a bigger group but they may not be.

5. If you are not sure of the site contact them and ask questions about the product.

Christmas Delivery.

We have been selling toys for a number of years now and we have come across some horror stories about delivery promisies which have not been kept.
Most retailers will dispatch upto Royal Mails last posting day, however there are a few who go way past this.

One such retailer is Amazon.

Amazon have been dispatching right upto Christmas Eve knowing full well that the customer will not receive their order until the New Year (just do a quick search on Google for “amazon christmas delivery” or have a look at the following pages:

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=637993
http://www.lazymanandmoney.com/the-amazon-that-stole-christmas/

I think the moral of this story is…”don’t believe that just because they are a large company it dosen’t mean you will receive your order any quicker at Christmas time or that they guarantee the delivery date stated”.

At J & L Toys we will only dispatch upto Royal Mails Christmas last post which this year is:

Friday 18th December - Second Class.
Monday 21st December - First Class Recorded Signed For™ has the same last posting dates as the 1st or 2nd Class service that the customer has chosen to apply it to.
Tuesday 15th December - Standard Parcels.
However we will not guarantee you delivery will arrive before the 25th, so please shop early to avoid disappointment!
